Gardner Creek - Downstream of Lake Gardner

The Downstream of Angove Lake site (site code: GR15GOOD1/6020005 ) was assessed on 12-13 March 2024.

Only aquatic biota was assessed, using the standard methods from the South West Index of River Condition.

Condition summary

Fish and crayfish

Nine fish species and one crayfish were found at this site during the assessment:

  • Aldrichetta forsteri (Yelloweye Mullet)
  • Arripis georgianus (Ruff)
  • Afurcagobius suppositus (South-western Goby)
  • Galaxias maculatus (Common jollytail)
  • Leptatherina wallacei (Western hardyhead)
  • Mugil cephalus (Sea mullet)
  • Nannoperca vittata (Western pygmy perch)
  • Pseudogobius olorum (Swan River goby)
  • Gambusia holbrooki (Eastern gambusia) – non-native
  • Cherax cainii (Smooth marron)

Only fish and crayfish are targeted by sampling methods. Other species that were caught and/or observed are listed below:

  • Palaemon australis (South-west glass shrimp)
  • Chelodina oblonga (South-western snake-necked turtle)
