Four Acres Road Tributary

The condition of the Four Acres Road Tributary site (site code: BR102SCOT1/6094003) had been assessed on several occasions:

• 24-25 October 2017
• 1-2 February 2022
• 18-19 November 2024

The assessment was conducted using standard methods from the South West Index of River Condition. Measures chosen for this assessment included fish and crayfish, aquatic habitat, water quality (dissolved oxygen, temperature, electrical conductivity, and pH logged over 24h, and colour, alkalinity, turbidity and nutrients), fringing vegetation, channel morphology, erosion, connectivity, local land use and flow.

One fish and one crayfish species were found during the assessments:

• Nannoperca vittata (Western pygmy perch)
• Cherax quinquecarinatus (Gilgie)

Abundance was generally very low, with less than five individuals typically captured on any one sampling occasion. However, Chelodina oblonga were generally recorded in high abundances with up top 66 recorded in February 2022.

Note: only fish and crayfish are targeted by sampling methods, however where other species were caught and/or observed they are included below.
