The Jalbarragup Road site (site code: BR325BLAC1/6094012) was assessed on the 15-16 March 2021.

Only aquatic biota and water quality was assessed, using the standard methods from the South West Index of River Condition.

The image below indicates conditions at the time of sampling in March 2021, towards the end of the dry season. March is within the Noongar season of Bunuru, which is the driest and hottest part of the year.

Fish and crayfish

Three fish and one crayfish species were found during the assessment:

  • Nannoperca vittata (Western Pygmy Perch)
  • Gambusia holbrooki (Eastern gambusia) – non-native
  • Tandanus bostocki (Freshwater cobbler)

Only fish and crayfish are targeted by sampling methods. Other species that were caught and/or observed are listed below:

  • Chelodina oblonga (South-western snake-necked turtle)
  • Palaemon australis (South-west glass shrimp)
