The Channybearup Gauging Station (site code: WR147LEFR2/6070008), was assessed on several occasions:

  • 21-22 February 2023
  • 16-17 February 2026

Only aquatic biota was assessed, using the standard methods from the South West Index of River Condition.

Fish and crayfish

Four fish and one crayfish species were found during the assessment:

  • Bostockia porosa (Nightfish)
  • Galaxias occidentalis (Western minnow)
  • Nannoperca vittata (Western pygmy perch)
  • Gambusia holbrooki (Eastern gambusia) – non-native
  • Cherax cainii (Smooth marron)

Only fish and crayfish are targeted by sampling methods. Other species that were caught and/or observed are listed below:

  • Hydromys chrysogaster (Rakali), native, semi-aquatic mammal
